Does art affect you on an emotional, intellectual, or spiritual level?

Perhaps all of these and more? Maybe you prefer works of art that are representational, or you find yourself attracted to those that are more abstract. Taste in art is so personal. You may even find yourself attracted to different styles and pieces at different times in your life.

What does a work of art need to have to engage you? What kind of art do you prefer to adorn your own surroundings with? Does a painting, musical piece, sculpture, or other work interest you more when you understand its background and story?

We all are becoming so much more aware. In 2009, I made about ten small yucca baskets. I had never made baskets before so it was an all new experience for me, prompted by my desire to craft from natural, abundant materials in this area.

At the end of the winter I had learned quite a lot — some from reading, some from googling, and a lot from my own trial and error. This coming next winter I hope to make more using what I learned, and maybe learn about natural dyes too!

So let me ask you,

Do you have trust in yourself and your instincts?

Sometimes you just have to keep moving, without sight of the outcome. You are relying on your faith, you have hope and trust, your intuition tells you to plug away. Or you are just plain determined to succeed.
